Start with the protection you need
Third-party cover concerns liability towards others under the policy. Comprehensive cover may also protect against damage to your own vehicle. The label comprehensive does not mean every event is covered without conditions. Compare the own-damage wording and exclusions rather than relying only on a product name.
Vehicle value, use and financing
Write down the approximate vehicle value, how it is used and your capacity to pay for an unexpected repair. Check financing requirements before changing cover on a financed vehicle. Vehicle age alone does not establish a universally suitable choice. Request an offer based on accurate vehicle information.
Compare premium, excess and repairs together
List the premium, excess, repair option, limits and extras for each offer. A lower premium can accompany a different excess or repair arrangement. Ask about requested extras and check that they appear in the final written offer, including their cost.
Questions before deciding
Is damage to my vehicle covered, and in which circumstances? What contribution may apply to a claim? Which repair arrangements and exclusions are written into the policy? Keep the provider’s answers, quotation and start date. Our office helps organise enquiries; the licensed provider supplies offers and issues policies.
